Julie has worked as a freelance Illustrator since graduating from Kingston University with first class honours in 1996. Based in a studio in London, she worked on a variety of commissions which included children’s books for publishers Macmillan, Scholastic and Simon & Schuster USA, some of which were translated into other languages.
As well as her children’s book work, Julie also produced illustration work for editorial and advertising projects including a series of banner ads for Royal Mail.
In 2005 she received a gold award for her children’s book ‘Winter Magic’ published by Scholastic at the AOI Best of British Illustration Awards.
In 2008 Julie moved to Paris continuing her freelance work as well as teaching at Art School in Central Paris (ECV). In 2015 she returned to continue her studies in Illustration on the MA Illustration Authorial Practice at Falmouth University. This opened up new avenues of research which continues to inform her practice. Julie began teaching on the BA Illustration course in 2017 and continues with her research interests. Her most recent commission was for a clothing company Graniph, based in Japan.
