Artist Statement:

Simon works across animation, digital images, drawing and text. Simon is interested in the inherent power of language, the ways in which words carry meaning, and often invite contradiction, humour and subversion of meaning. Simon’s work explores these tensions where text and visual image intersect, creating layered experiences for the viewer.

Contextual Statement:

Conversations with Household Items – The Past Never Passes is a project about memories, philosophy and psychology of the home. Drawing inspiration from the theoretical concept of Object-Oriented Ontology and the 1957 book by Gaston Bachelard ‘The Poetics of Space’. The project is an A5, black and white zine, which can be found in various independent bookshops across the UK.
