Artist Statement

As a mixed media artist, my practice explores the intersection between material, nature, and storytelling. My work focuses on textiles, where I manipulate repurposed and foraged materials, often using those I grow myself. This process is more than transforming physical objects; it’s about honouring the origins of these resources while creating rituals imbued with intention and self-care. I’m committed to sustainability, crafting eco-pigments and natural colours that reflect the vibrancy of the earth, ensuring my methods are environmentally conscious.

Nature is central to my art, influenced by nature-connectedness and eco-feminism. My practice is a dialogue with the earth, using art to challenge traditional patriarchal narratives and advocate for harmony between the natural world and feminine energy.

I am drawn to esoteric themes, especially the concept of individuation, aiming to capture the sense of disconnection from both self and the universe. Through my work, I seek to convey the transformative power of reconnecting with nature as a pathway to deeper self-awareness and unity. My work visualises the unseen, where the personal and universal intersect. My art blends nature, narrative, and material experimentation, aiming to provoke thought, inspire connection, and reflect the deep interconnectivity of life.

Contextual Statement

This site-specific textile installation took place in the historic Cottesbrooke Church and was open to the public over a weekend. The work invited visitors into a meditative, spiral-shaped structure made up of large-scale eco-textile panels, each hand-dyed using natural pigments derived from UK-native dye plants. These textiles explored themes of personal journeying, nature-based healing, and ecological interconnectedness, blending materiality with meaning to evoke deeper reflections on our relationship with the Earth.

At the heart of the installation was a large, seed-like immersive structure that visitors could step inside, encountering a carefully curated sensory environment. The space was animated by evocative shadow lighting, a calming short film featuring botanical imagery, and a soundscape composed by sound artist Sammuel Yisrael from Sol Haven, a permaculture farm and educational centre in Northamptonshire. These multi-sensory components worked in harmony to create a tranquil atmosphere of introspection and connection.

The project was grounded in eco-feminist theory, which critiques exploitative systems while celebrating care, sustainability, and the interconnectedness of all life. By working with native dye plants and participatory practices, including plant-based meditation guidance and a take-home zine of recipes and rituals, the installation encouraged visitors to reflect not only on environmental issues but also on personal transformation and the healing potential of reconnecting with nature.

This work stood at the intersection of art, ecology, and social consciousness, functioning as both an aesthetic experience and a quiet call to ecological awareness and care. Through the weaving together of textiles, sound, space, and story, the project invited a slower, more intentional way of being in the world.
